스모키 내한공연

2002년도에 그룹결성후인 27년만에 첫 내한공연을 갖은 이후
2003년에 두번째, 그리고 2006년 9월 세번째 내한공연을 갖었다.

80년초 고등학교때 가장 많이 들었던 노래의 주인공이다.

What can I do, Mexican Girl, 그리고 불후의 명작인
Living Next Door To Alice 등.

70~80년대 중반까지 청소년기를 보낸 중, 장년층에게 가장 많이 불렸던 노래이다.

그래서 스모키의 존재는 그 때 청소년기를 보낸 이들의 마음의 안식처이자 향수이고
고향이었다.

공연시작때는 조용한 듯하더니 후반으로 갈수록 감추어 졌던 열정이 폭발했고
마지막으로 Living Next Door To Alice가 나오자 거의 모든 이들이 마음속으로는
보컬이 되어 노래를 따라 하는 분위기로 동화되는 모습이 참으로 보기 좋았다.

1995년도에 투어콘써트를 위해 뒤셀돌프 공항으로 이동중 교통사고로
리드보컬인 Alan Barton을 잃어 현재의 리드보컬인 Mike Craft를 영입했으며,
이어 1996년에 Alan Silson마저 밴드를 떠나 Mick McConnell영입하여
오늘에 이르게 된다.

[By 1995, Smokie were even stronger, with headlining tours
booked across Europe. Tragically on their way to Dusseldorf
airport the tour bus careered off the road in a freak hailstorm.
There were three band members on the bus, Alan Silson, Terry Uttley
and Alan Barton. Alan Silson and Terry Uttley suffered bad cuts and
bruises. However, Alan Barton's injuries were so critical that after
5 days in Intensive Care, he lost his fight for life.]

[During 1996, Alan Silson found it increasingly difficult to come to terms

with being on the road touring around. Eventually, he made the extremely

hard decision to stop touring with the band. To stand in for Alan, the band

brought in Mick McConnell. Mick was quickly accepted by all the fans and

has now become a firm favourite.]

어제의 공연중 특히 Living Next Door To Alice는 Alan Barton이 부르지는 않았지만
그때의 향수를 그대로 불러 일으킬 정도로 분위기나 보컬이 좋았다.
